Opposition Barred in Iranian Election
Posted February 19th, 2008 by aaronAs President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's approval plummets in Iran, his opposition is barred from running in the upcoming parliamentary elections held on March 14, 2008.
Candidates are vetted by the interior ministry before they are allowed to stand for election to the parliamentary. Out of the 7,000 hopeful candidates, nearly 3,000 have been disqualified.
Iranian President Loses Support
Posted February 19th, 2008 by aaronPresident Mahmoud Ahmadinejad looks to be loosing support of clergy in Iran as the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, publicly intervened earlier this year to end a dispute between Mr Ahmadinejad and parliament over legislation for the gas sector.
