Al Jazeera Tries to Enter U.S. Market

The English version of the Al Jazeera news channel is available throughout much of the world, but not in the U.S. The media company is working to enter the U.S. cable space with a TV offering tailored to the U.S. market, including more news from the U.S. than it currently reports on.

Cable executives say that Al Jazeera is not currently broadcast in the U.S. because of the already wide range of news services, as well as a bit of nervouness about how viewers would react to a cable network that picks up the controversial channel - Al Jazeera is the preferred network for Osama bin Laden when he records and broadcasts his video messages.
