The Government Accountability Office issued a report titled "Combating Terrorism: The United States Lacks Comprehensive Plan to Destroy the Terrorist Threat and Close the Safe Haven in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas".This is a link to the 37 page report.
The report focuses on the U.S. efforts (and failures) to eradicate terrorism in the Eastern mountainous region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, called the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The report asserts that al Qaeda operations in this region are going unchecked.
